October Countdown: 31 Fantastic Films to Make Your Halloween Scream, #2

LV

Are you looking to hang out with a few friends on Halloween night and watch a great horror flick? Every day in October, I’ll be suggesting a film that I believe will make for excellent Halloween viewing. Whether you’re an avid celebrator or a casual observer of the holiday, these films will convey the proper mood and spirit of October. In no particular order (and by no means a completely representative), here’s the next entry in my list of 31 excellent movies for Halloween Night—or whenever you’re looking for a frightfully good time.

My recommendation for Thursday, October 2nd is… Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.

It amazes me that there are still a large number of Horror aficionados who have not seen the brilliant black-comedy mockumentary that is Behind the Mask.  Some of you will want to write it off as another lame Found-Footage flick, but BtM is so much more.  Leslie Vernon deserves to be included among the greatest Horror iconsever, seriously.  The entire film is a laugh-riot with some fantastically good scares.  Horror fans will swoon for the Robert Englund cameo.  Do not sleep on this one, folks.  It’s a winner!

Official Synopsis: The next great psycho horror slasher has given a documentary crew exclusive access to his life as he plans his reign of terror over the sleepy town of Glen Echo, all the while deconstructing the conventions and archetypes of the horror genre for them.

See you tomorrow for recommendation #3!
