Tonight’s Basic Cable-TV Horror Movie Selection: Wednesday ShOckTober 19th

Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane, 8:00 PM (PST) on AMC (Fear Fest):  I’ll be giving Flight of the Living Dead a whirl tonight, even though I’ve never seen it.  Don’t let the obvious pun fool you as this is NOT a Romero film and has no affiliation with Night of the Living Dead.  While Flight received positive reviews when it was screened at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival in 2007, it was never released theatrically and went straight to DVD in 2008.  While there also seems to be some parody of Snakes on a Plane in the title, the two films were actually in production at the same time.  While it is not described as such, I think we’ll be in for plenty of campy gore bordering on Horror-Comedy.  Zombies at 30,000 feet—make sure your seatbelts are securely fastened.

District 9, 7:30 PM (PST) on FX:  If you’re not in the mood for a campy Zombie flick and want a sure thing for entertainment, you can check out District 9 instead.  It’s an amazing piece of Horror/Sci-Fi with themes of marginalization and segregation.  The creature effects are out of sight and watching the films “hero” morph into a huge insect is will make your skin crawl.
